BAUMA2010 CEA

BAUMA 2010 - Munich

We are again appointed by the Construction Equipment Association as the official freight forwarder to the British Group of exhibitors.

This will be the sixth Bauma event that Bill Bowden, our construction industry specialist has handled. Not only has he handled BAUMA, but he has taken British Group exhibitors to Intermat, Conexpo, BAUMA China, BICES Beijing, EXCON Bangalore to name a few. We have also taken independant exhibitors to many construction events world-wide.

For BAUMA, not only are we providing the round-trip transportation and on-site services of unloading, positioing with cranes and forklifts, but we will also have our team headed by Bill Bowden in Munich throughout the build-up and breakdown periods. Our team are dedicated to the British Group unlike our competitors who use local represenatation of one of the sites agents. Our team are committed to ensure that you as a British Group exhibitor have a hassle free and successful BAUMA.

We do not take our official recommendations lightly. It takes many years and many worldwide events to build up confidence of not only the exhibitors but also the trade association to which you may belong. It is through the dedication of our team and our ability to deliver on time, every time that we receive such a prestigious appointment.

For more information, a quotation or to discuss your requirements, please contact Bill Bowden on 08456 439 550 or direct on 01444 259661

ISPO WINTER

For this years ISPO Winter, we handled the transportation for 13 British companies to Munich and return. Despite snow en-route to Munich, our driver Roy Humphrey arrived a day ahead of the delivery time and made all deliveries to exhibitors stands for when they arrived to set-up. All crates and empty packaging were stored by Roy on our own truck and delivered immediately after the event had closed. Again, snow was falling heavily during the breakdown and the Messa was being constantly ploughed but Roy still managed to get all empties back speedily and the truck reloaded.

Roy's efforts were appreciated by all exhibitors and we have received many thank you's from the group for Roy's efforts and Expofreights excellent service. Click here for ISPO testimonials

Diana - The exhibition

We were honoured to be asked by our US agent to handle the importation of the Diana exhibit from the USA to Althorp, the Spencer family home, where it will be exhibited between 2nd July and 2nd September.

The exhibits include Diana’s Wedding Dress, personal diary, jewellery, photographs, letters, school reports, Bridesmaids dresses, Earl Spencer’s Speech and articles of dress wear including evening dresses, cocktail dresses and suits.

After the exhibits arrived on a freighter aircraft to the UK, we co-ordinated the transportation to Althorp taking care of the Import Customs clearance and also had our own team on-site at Althorp to handle the unloading and positioning of the crated exhibits into the exhibition area.

We have since returned to Althorp to pick-up the exhibits to send them onto Sydney, Australia where they will be on show at The Powerhouse Museum.

The insurers of the exhibit insisted that all exhibits be loaded into a hard sided, temperature and humidity controlled vehicle, have a security escort between Althorp and the airport of departure and also an Expofreight 'witness load' at the airport.

The witness was Wayne Forster of our Expofreight office in Horley who supervised the careful unloading of the vehicle, loading to airline pallets and into the computerised system ready for loading to a 747 freighter aircraft to Sydney. Below are photographs which Wayne took whilst overseeing the loading.

Golf Europe - another satisfied customer.....

The British Golf Industry Association appointed Expofreight as the official freight contractor to the British Group at Golf Europe.

The group was again handled on-site by our own Roy Humphrey.
One of our customers wrote

I just wanted to thank you and Roy for the superb service you provided to us before, during and after Golf Europe.

Your work up to the collection of our goods and their return to us promptly after the show was very much appreciated. Everything you said you and Expofreight would do was done, just when you said it would be.

Roy's excellent service in Munich was also very much appreciated. He had a lot of other companies to serve, but he kept us informed all along the way as to what was going to happen (and it did). Things flowed as though we were the only company Roy had to worry about. He also performed some miracles at the end of the show and got us our boxes far quicker than we anticipated, which enabled to get our packing job done and our weary bodies out of the Messe much earlier than we expected.

We will certainly be using your services again next year.

Thanks again to you and Roy.
Best regards,
Bill McGuinness

Conferences (use of courier companies)

We are continually involved in new smaller conferences across Europe where we provide our clients with a cost effective service from a company who is not a courier and who takes into account their full round-trip requirements.

When attending a conference you may be tempted to utilise the services of a courier which you can book on-line what looks to be a reasonable rate.  However, the reality may be that your equipment may not turn up on time at your event.  You then have to make contact with the couriers local depot (who may not speak English) to where the conference is taking place only to find that your material will not be delivered when you need it.  There also may be hidden costs that you would be invoiced with at a later date.

Expofreight can provide so much more! You provide one order to us for round-trip shipping.  We then, at a date and time agreed by both parties, we will pick-up your exhibit and move it by air or road to the show.  Where applicable, we take care of local Customs formalities and deliver to the show.  For most events, Expofreight will be on-site or represented by our local agent.  After the show, we pick-up from your stand and return to your offices.

  • You have one contact throughout the movement.
  • You have peace of mind knowing that an organisation is taking care of your total needs, not just from A-B, but from your premises, to the show and return.
  • You can benefit from our global localised knowledge and agent network.

You can check out rates for Courier companies on their website's.  When doing so, bear in mind that they cannot provide temporary import Customs clearance and also a bond guarantee.  You may receive further invoices further down the line after the event for supplemental Customs charges which on the surface, are hidden.
Expofreight does not hide any costs and will alert you at time of quotation of any supplemental charges.
We have many satisfied customers who continually use our services for their conference work.  For regular clients, we even offer free storage at our Gatwick location between events !   This saves you the cost of repeated pick-up’s and redeliveries and frees valuable office space.
For more information, please contact Wayne Forster on 08456 439 550

Importing into the USA – Customs Bond

Any company or individual wishing to import goods into the United States is required to post a surety bond or its cash equivalent with the U.S. Customs Service. The bond guarantees that the importer will faithfully, and in a timely manner, abide by all laws and regulations governing the importation of merchandise into the commerce of the United States.

The bond is not designed or intended to protect the importer (rather it protects the people and government of the United States), nor does it relieve the importer of any of their obligations.

When a Bond is used, a percentage of the import amount is charged as a ‘Bond Fee'
Expofreight are fortunate to have the financial security and therefore have our own US Customs Bond.  This allows us full control over all of our imports.

Expofreight – keeping customers aware !

We aim to provide you with as much information as you require ensuring that you are kept aware of the location and status of your display exhibit at any time. Whilst no news is normally good news, please feel free to contact us at any time to ascertain the status of your exhibit and we’ll be happy to update you.

Following a recent, high profile trade show in Las Vegas, David Gardener of Sibert Instruments, Guildford commented “Very happy with your service. Always returning calls and getting the info. The shipment arrived on time and returned when promised…..what more could we ask for! I think we could certainly be looking at a long term arrangement for our show freight”

I just wanted to say a big thank you for the way you’ve handled our recent, back-to-back events in South Africa and Paris, and for making my least favourite task effortless!  We’ve had some truly dreadful experiences in the past with couriers and I think with any other company the last two weeks could have been a disaster.
Francesca Peckover - Investment Technology Group (ITG)

Excellent Service - the best courier company I have ever used - Berwin Leighton Paisner

Top class service and guaranteed peace of mind. I feel at easing using Expofreight even if I am not at the event - The Bank of New York

We have been very impressed by the service received from Expofreight and would definitely use the service again/recommend to others. In particular your staff on-site (Andy, Wayne, Tony) have been exceptionally helpful. Aberdeen Asset Managers.

I just wanted to write to thank you for all of your assistance with the shipping and logistics for the SOFA Chicago event this year. Your service for these past years has been invaluable and greatly appreciated. Your prompt and clear communications, experience within the arts field and advice in general have all helped to make the events go so smoothly for our gallery. It is so good to know that with Expofreight's co-ordination there is one less thing to worry about - it can all be left in your capable hands. Jane Gerrard, The Gallery Ruthin Craft Centre

Just a few words to say how much I appreciated the individual attention afforded to me throughout the tour. I did appreciate the patience of your team in working with me, at my speed, in packing and unpacking this very large and complex exhibit. Not least, no artefact was lost or damaged - remarkable and very much appreciated. Diana Springall (Knitting & Stitching 2005)

Now that the work is all back safely to me, and all the people who lent pieces, I would like to say a big thank you. It was a complicated business getting a selection of fifty years' work together for the Knitting & Stitching show, but thanks to your good organisation all went well. It is always worrying borrowing work back from clients, so it was a relief that everything arrived in perfect condition at each of the venues. Denys and I found your cheerfulness and friendliness throughout the whole operation to be a bonus and we admired your professionalism. Eirian Short.

Now that the shipment back from Chicago has arrived back safe and well in the gallery, it seems the appropriate moment to thank you and Expofreight for your hard work.

As you know, it's the fifth year we've entrusted Expofreight for shipping to and from the fair in Chicago and to date, everything has arrived safely which bearing in mind how fragile some of the ceramic works are, is not far short of miraculous.

We are very grateful for all of the effort you put in to make sure that everything to do with the shipping goes as smoothly as possible. We particularly appreciate this when, at 2am on the final day having packed through the night, we know we can hand the paper work over to you and forget about it. Indeed we should also thank you for the lift back to the hotel in the early hours of the morning. Matthew Hall, Galerie Besson
